Lover, Please Stay

September the eighth
And summer is ending
I'm lying in bed and I'm watching your back
You don't wanna wait
And keep on pretending
The cares of the world will never come back

But lover, give me one more day to keep our worries away
Soon our lives can resume, just please not today
Oh, lover, please stay

Your heart at your feet
You had things to achieve
People to lead and debts to pay
You said, "Get out in the sun
There's work to be donе
While we are young wе should make haste"

But lover, give me one more day to keep our future at bay
In time you can climb to the top, just please not today
Oh, lover, please stay

You know it isn't a crime to waste a little more time
We've got our whole lives to strive, let's skive tonight

December the eighth
And winter is coming
But don't be afraid as the days turn grey
Outside there's a storm and the bed's still warm
Lie down and wait till the weather's okay

And lover, give me one more day
Till springtime comes our way
Then we can start again, just please not today
Oh, lover, please stay
Lover, please stay
