Lyrics
And I'm going to sing you a lullaby
So, this is called The Little Drummer Boy
And it comes from the Irish folk songs
It's one of my favorites
This song was originally written for children, but
Because it has such a calming effect, adults love it, too
Let me show you what I mean
When I was a child, my grandmother would rock me to
Sleep each night and she used to sing me these lullabies
These were some of her favorite songs
She loved singing them to me as a baby
And they're still some of my favorites
I think they're beautiful
Don't cry little one, I am here, don't fear
I'll be close by, I will hold you safe tonight
In case the wolf or the bear or the tiger should scare you
Don't worry, little one, all those scary animals are far away and
There's no need to run now 'cause
Mommy and daddy have come home, hey
Oh yeah, that's right, we've got to sing another
Lullaby before we go to bed, won't you say?
That our favorite song is about to end, so I want to play you
One more lullaby and then we can all say goodnight together
This one's a little longer so you all need to huddle
Up close together and sing along with me, okay?
So we're going to sing a lullaby called The Little
Drummer Boy and it goes like this, de-re-su do-mi-ni...
Don't Cry Little One, I am here, don't fear
I'll be close by, I will hold you safe tonight
In case the wolf or the bear or the tiger should scare you
Don't worry little one, all those scary animals are far away and
There's no need to run now 'cause
Mommy and daddy have come home, hey
Oh yeah, that's right, we've got to sing another
Lullaby before we go to bed, won't you say?
That our favorite song is about to end, so I want to play you
One more lullaby and then we can all say goodnight together
This one's a little longer so I want you all to huddle
Up close together and sing along with me, okay?
So we're going to sing a lullaby called The Little Drummer Boy
And it goes like this, de-re-su do-mi-ni-do re-su do-mi-ni-
Do, in the moonlight glimmering, how I love that little drum
May your night time study keep you safe from danger
While I lay us both to rest, may your dreams my little
One always be kept in a land where dreamers never awake
And if you listen very hard at night you'll hear a music
Coming from the hills, it comes from me, your very own
Danny Boy, I hope he sings to you too as he plays his drum
And when he plays his drum what does he sound like?
He sounds like this
Now, which instrument would you rather have
For playing with, a fiddle or an oboe?
Well, let me tell you something, they both sound wonderful
But today I'm feeling especially creative and I feel like
Being an engineer because engineers came up with the first
Recording device, which was actually an Englishman who invented
The gramophone and that brought the record into existence
So I wanted to become a recorder player just like him back in the day
Anyway, enough of my story
Back to singing
De-re-su do-mi-ni-do re-su do-mi-ni-do, in the moonlight
Glimmering, how I love that little drummer boy, who played
For me and you on the tapestry of sound until he reached
The break of dawn, when he fell asleep forevermore
Until he returned again to play some melody for me, yes, he did
For he had not finished playing when he laid down his head
But tomorrow he'd wake up early in the morning and he'd practice
Once again till he mastered the art of playing the drums
